Vietnam weather in May

Summer arrives but May remains a good time to visit Vietnam regardless of weather complexity. Northern Vietnam experiences a slight rise in temperature with more rain and the South has stepped into wet season especially at the end of the month. Central region nearly reaches its peak and in fact all beaches are highly recommended such as Hoian, Danang and Nha Trang.

Northern Vietnam

You can expect frequent dry days along with rising temperature up to 29°C on average as well as showers. May is still a good month to explore mountainous areas such as Sapa where it’s cooler with average temperature of 20°C while there’s more rain in Ha Giang.

Central Vietnam

There’re plenty of sunshine and blue skies all the way along Central Vietnam. Nothing’s more enjoyable than spending your time at beaches of Hoian, Danang and Nha Trang thanks to their best condition with average temperature of 30 °C. Hue is also in a good weather condition. Rainfall amount starts to increase in the Central Highlands and Dalat but you can still expect many dry days.

Southern Vietnam

Rainfall increases throughout the month which helps to lower down high temperature to 28°C on average only. You can expect short heavy downpours in the afternoon and do not forget to bring raincoat whenever walking on the street. Phu Quoc is considered a reasonable option although there are showers here and there.
