Vietnam weather in August

Vietnam weather in Aug

August in Vietnam is a big relief from hot summer days by mixing rain and dry. Northern Vietnam remains hot with lots of rain, thunders and lighting. Trekking in mountainous areas is hard due to wet weather. The Central region keeps dry with some rain at the end of the month. It’s recommended to enjoy beautiful beaches of Hoian, Danang and Nha Trang with plenty of sunshine. Meanwhile the South is wet with high humidity level.

Northern Vietnam

Although it’s still hot in August, average temperature is decreasing which fluctuates between 27 and 32°C with frequent rain and sometimes storms. Those travelling to the North should prepare raincoat, umbrella and light clothing and of course sun cream. Mountainous areas are cooler with average temperature of around 22°C but very wet for extensive trekking.

Central Vietnam

Temperature remains high with frequent rain at the end of the month. The average temperature is 30°C. You can expect good weather with plenty of sunshine on Hoian and Danang beaches while Nha Trang is excellent during this month. Hue receives more rainfall as well as the Central Highlands which is hard for adventure activities.

Southern Vietnam

The south is still in wet season with lots of heavy rain lasting for a few hours a day. The temperature remains the same as in July at 29°Con average. Don’t forget to prepare an umbrella or raincoat before entering this region. Phu Quoc gets more rainfall and the waters are less blue.
