Nha Trang, one of the most beautiful bays in the world

Nha Trang City, the capital of Khanh Hoa province, is one of the first seaside resorts of Vietnam

Located 448km from Ho Chi Minh City, 1,278km from Hanoi, 630km from Hue, 105km from Phan Rang, 260km from Phan Thiet, and 620km from Can Tho, Nha Trang benefits greatly from its topography: sea, islands, mountains and deltas making it an attractive region. An endless mountain range is located west of Nha Trang. It houses a wide variety of birds and animals. Nha Trang is sheltered from the wind and never receives typhoons. There are nine nice months out of 12. When HCMC lives at the time of the monsoon, between June and September, in the beautiful Nha Trang, dry weather persists and the heat is always bearable by the sea. The average temperature is 23oC. Showers are less common than elsewhere in the region since it is protected by Truong Son Mountains and Ca Pass.

Nha Trang is very rich in natural resources including rare species (aloe wood, sandalwood, and eagle). Agriculture, industry and fishing are also a promising development. The main products of the province are rice, corn, beans, grapefruit, lemon, Cam Ranh mango, melon, pineapple. The province is also rich in marine products: oysters, lobster, cod, cuttlefish and tuna. The salangane nest (Swallow’s Nest - annual production reaches more than 2.5 tons) and sandalwood are among its specialties.

Ironwood, ebony, black rattan and wood are the main forest resources. White sand is used in the production of high quality glass and the shale is used for construction. Also, saline from Cam Ranh annually provides 500,000 tons of salt.

The city has good tourism infrastructure and a transportation network with highly developed port of Cam Ranh, one of the best ports in the world, and the airport facilitates the arrival of visitors to Khanh Hoa province.

From Nha Trang, many excursions are possible. By sampan over the water of the river, motorbike, car or boat, you can visit the highlands, the villages of minorities or the virgin forest.

Things to see:

Nha Trang Bay, one of the most beautiful bays in the world

Nha Trang Bay is dotted with islands that offer the opportunity for a pleasant walk at sea. There are 19 named islands and many other, very small, that do not have a name yet. In 2003, Nha Trang Bay entered the very closed club of the most beautiful bays in the world. Its surroundings are beautiful diving sites. The turquoise waters around Nha Trang Bay are home to much diversity of life underwater including colorful coral reefs. It is a dream location for scuba diving and snorkeling. Year by year, the number of national and international tourists is increasing.

Cham Ponagar Sanctuary, discovery of remarkable architectural and sculptural art

The Cham Ponagar sanctuary is dedicated to the goddess Po Yang Ina Nagar. During the Cham festival held every year on from 23-27 day of the third lunar month, singing and traditional dance performances are held. Located on a hill at the mouth of Cai River, the site of Po Nagar as it stands today was built between the 8th and 13th centuries. The architectural and sculptural work is more remarkable because it reflects the different stages of Cham art. The remains of Po Nagar help to retrace the Cham history and religion through the centuries and are essential contributions to the understanding of the spiritual and social life of Champa.

Hon Chong Island, discovering the Creator’s products

Hon Chong is a famous natural site in Vinh Phuoc area, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa province. In this island, you can see Hon Yen Island, Hon Tre Island, Cau Da port and the beautiful Nha Trang Bay.

Hon Chong is a set of small and large stones of strange shapes stacked to the sea. On the way to Hon Chong, there is also a restaurant presenting numerous photos of Hon Chong. Here, the scenery is beautiful: the mountains and the sea are adjacent to each other. It is a calm and appropriate space to let you go fishing, swim or enjoy the beautiful nature.

Doc Let Beach, a very beautiful windy beach

Doc Let site or “slope slide” has existed for a long time and only a few elders still remember that “Here in the past, there was a very large and high sand dune and going through here every time is quite a story. Villagers had to use to an areca spathe (palm leaf) to slide from top to bottom.”

From Nha Trang following the National 1, approximately 49km to the north, we come to a crossroads and turn right about 14km and you arrive at Doc Let Resort. Standing on Doc Let Beach, you will see far from the Hon Khoi peninsula, and Huyndai Vinashin shipbuilder running day and night. Further still waving a mountain range in cloudy smoke.

Doc Let Beach offers an idyllic setting for a relaxing day or a few days of rest, away from the noise and bustle of the cities. This is a superb range of several kilometers. This place is usually quite windy making it an ideal spot for windsurfing fans. You can hire a hut for shelter from the sun.

Hon Tre Island, the largest island in Nha Trang Bay

This island covers 36km2 and belongs to an archipelago located southeast of Nha Trang. It takes two hours to reach Hon Tre by a rowboat and only 20 minutes by motorboat. Accessible from the pier located south of the municipal beach, this island, the largest in Nha Trang, was unexploited until 2004 (there were only a few huts of fishermen), now has a 5-star hotel (Sofitel Vinpearl Resort & Spa).

In addition to the rest station, you can participate in sports discovery programs. Hon Tre is in front of the first coastal city of Nha Trang, on which a mountain, also known as Dan Mong, looks like a crocodile that crawls into the sea. Despite the recent impact of man, the island retains the original beauty intact through the trees that cover the mountains.
