We are a couple from Brittany, France, who were looking to visit Vietnam and Laos. We normally travel independently and make our own reservations but for Vietnam, we couldn’t do this because of the language barrier and the difficulty we were facing in renting a car as Europeans.

Since we were opposed to traveling in a tour group, we saw only one option: hire a car and driver, and a translator to help guide us and set up hotel reservations. During our search, we found a travel agency, based in Hanoi, called Tonkin Voyage, who offered exactly what we were looking for. However, we were unsure about foreign online travel agencies; we were worried about being taken advantage of.  

Well, we are home now, after a three-week trip to Laos and Vietnam and I can confirm that Tonkin Voyage organized a flawless trip, and provided a service that is hard to find in Europe.

The staff speaks French, and they listened to our needs. At the slightest hint of a problem they called us to keep us informed.

All of our cars, mostly SUVs, were well air-conditioned (we also got a bottle of water after each stop), very clean, and the drivers where always careful and professional. And the guides, all of them were excellent translators who knew how to tell the story of their country.

The total cost of the trip, including the service, the hotels, and the flight, was very reasonable.

So, for those of you looking to do a trip like this, you can be confident in your choice. We are 100% satisfied.

Karole Wittmann gave me your email, regarding the wonderful trip to Vietnam that you prepared for us.

I wanted to write to you, but I was distracted by my preparations for my trip to Tahiti, where I have been for the past three days. 

The five of us (my two sisters and their partners, and I) were overjoyed with our trip, everything went so well. We were so pleased with everything from our guides greeting us at the airport, to our drivers, to the agency. The quality of the hotels and the meals we had in the different restaurants were all lovely. We don’t have critiques to give.

During our two cruises, on Halong Bay and the Mekong Delta, we experienced exceptional quality in terms of service and activates.

Our guides, Du Truong Huu and Van, were very professional and delightful, they gave great information, and their patience and ability to listen showed their professionalism. Thank you for assigning them to guide us.

Everything went according to plan and with no troubles at all, this has made us start thinking about a new trip, to Thailand, Laos or Cambodia, or Myanmar. We’re thinking about next year.

Naturally, I have been singing the praises of your work to my friends who are thinking about traveling your way. I have put them in contact with Karole.

Vietnam from Halong Bay to Phu Quoc Island in 16 days

Hello Ms Vy

We have not made it home yet, we are back in Thailand for another three weeks.  We do not get back to Canada until;  Kathy and Frank on 14 December, Elaine and I on 19 December. Elaine and I will not get home to Mexico until 29 December.

We would like to thank you very much for the work you put into setting up a wonderful tour for us. We had a great time.  We will recommend you and your company at any  and all opportunities that we get.

All of our guides became friends (we hope), and all of the drivers were very friendly and professional, we particularly liked our guide Hy in Hoian. Again we would love to have anyone of the guides show us more of your beautiful country.

As for you, Ms Vy, we did not get to spend as much time with you, that we would have liked. Elaine counts her day with you as her higlight of the whole trip, and there were many highlights.

As we are traveling yet, I am unable to download my pictures until we return home, I will definitely send some once I have done this.

We returned home Sunday morning after a stay at Mango Bay to rest, the hotel was very good, good, good equipment, good service in a dream location. We welcome you have asked us to design this circuit from 31 March to 16 April. Indeed it was great: the pace of tours, activities (walks, bike, boat, rickshaw, puppets, cooking, foot baths, Cham show, lunch restaurants, etc. ...) except maybe ox carts in Ninh Binh. We really had the feeling of having a privileged circuit away from many groups, through the guide and driver, the choice of times the choice of channels and means selected (Halong Bay).

Thank you and do not miss, friends who will want to go to Vietnam, to give your details we wish you success and do not change philosophy.

Dear Madam,

As agreed and notwithstanding the fact that I have completed the documents given to guides, allow me to complete with this email.

If the proposed program was very attractive in its development phase, it turned out in practice even much higher with a result that went beyond my expectations. This is due to the quality of the program and especially that of the guides who were able to adapt perfectly to us with a form of pro remarkable activity. The fact that we have been in touch with older guides, is closer to our age has been very profitable and extended culture beyond the countries visited has a real profitable trade at all. Hotels have delivered a good performance with attentive service. The drivers were very agile and very caring. Two things could be improved:

The Can Tho hotel would have been more convenient if more centered and cons I think it appropriate to advise against visiting Angkor during the Khmer New Year. Indeed, indigenous invade Siem Riep including the Prime Minister and engorge all visits. It is only thanks to the intelligence and perfect knowledge of places of Rostry guide we nevertheless able to hold the program using secondary roads.

In summary, I am very satisfied with your service and thank you with all my heart, this trip will remain for my wife and myself a highlight of our lives. I will have no problem recommending you with Swiss friends who would make a trip to your beautiful country.
